About Me
I first came across Ido Portal in around 2009, at the time i was fully immersed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Like most people that play BJJ, i had my share of injuries, achy joints and poor mobility and i was looking for something to compliment my BJJ practice.
I remember watching a video that Ido had posted called “self dominance”. I had never seen anyone with such a diverse set of skills at the time and immediately I was in awe.
In dec 2012, i re-discovered Ido on facebook and saw that he offered online training services. I wanted to learn more about this “Ido Portal Method” and i subscribed immediately, 3 months later, i attend my first movement camp in Singapore. It was the first time I met Ido in the flesh, along with a community i never knew existed.
I was blown away by the experience and i knew immediately, this was where i was meant to be and I’ve never looked back since.
I continued to work online with Ido, then attended several more events including internships, movements camps, and in 2015 I received an invite to join the Ido Portal Mentorship Program that had just been created.
What is Movement Practice DXB?
The Ido Portal Method, is not such much a method as it is Ido’s perspective on how to approach life in a body.
Movement Practice DXB is a centred around the works and philosophies of Ido Portal. http://www.idoportal.com
It’s a small community based in Dubai that i started from scratch, pulling together individuals that were interested in developing their physical education.
I am simply sharing my education that has passed onto me through my teacher Ido Portal.
Movement Classes
I want my students to develop a generalist movement perspective oriented towards growth and evolution across all fields and areas in life. The movement practice brings together information from an array of disciplines such as dance, gymnastics, martial arts, circus, yoga and parkour.
Through the exploration and development of strength (both linear and organic), mobility, coordination, rhythm, expressive layers, tactical games, movement refinement & terminology, object manipulation, problem solving and much more. Movement classes are geared towards helping students to understand and develop physical intelligence within a generalist perspective, cultivating their awareness on the subject of movement.
My goal is to help foster a deep exploration and discovery in each individual no matter their skill level and to encourage creativity and play.
Movement classes are for everybody and our classes are geared towards all levels!
